African Pangolin Working Group

The African Pangolin Working Group was founded in June 2011 by a number of experienced and passionate pangolin conservationists. The group is made up of scientists, veterinarians, anti-poachers, and journalists who work together to protect all four pangolin species living in Africa. The focus is on direct protection, as well as education and awareness, rehabilitation, and international networking.

BatsWithoutBorders

BatsWithoutBorders focuses on conserving bats, biodiversity, and healthy ecosystems in southern Africa. The organization achieves this through applied research for targeted conservation, strengthening local capacity, and promoting a positive attitude towards bats through public engagement.

BirdWatch Zambia

BirdWatch Zambia is an environmental NGO founded in 1969 with the aim of protecting and researching birds. The organisation works hand-in-hand with BirdLife South Africa. Special focus is put on protected and endemic species such as the Chaplins Barbet, the Black-cheeked Lovebird, and various vulture species. In addition, the organisation is dedicated to the conservation and creation of new protected areas, as well as the education of local communities and international guests.

Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust

The Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust is a nonprofit organization in Zambia, founded in 1998, dedicated to wildlife conservation and environmental education. Chipembele operate an education center in South Luangwa National Park and provide programs for schools and communities to raise awareness about conservation. Their focus is on youth, whom they train as active environmental stewards through workshops and the “Conservation Club”.

Chitungulu Foundation

Chitungulu Foundation is a Dutch organisation started by Chris Brugman in 2012. Chris has many years of experience in Africa and was one of the last managers at Luangwa Wilderness Lodge, the forerunner of Luambe Camp.

Chitungulu Foundation focuses on development work and environmental education in Chitungulu, north of Luambe National Park. We support Chitungulu Foundation in a number of projects.

Conservation South Luangwa

Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) is a conservation NGO established in 2003 to provide sustainable conservation of species and habitats in Zambia’s South Luangwa Valley. With the help of communities and a number of conservation partners, measures are implemented to ensure the continued existence of wildlife and habitats in South Luangwa under the Zambian administration.

Projects focus primarily on combating poaching and illegal wildlife trade, as well as on managing human-wildlife conflicts.

Endangered Wildlife Trust

The Endangered Wildlife Trust was founded in 1973 and is today one of the largest conservation organisations in South Africa. With 13 programmes, the NGO’s work covers southern and eastern Africa under the approach of species protection, habitat conservation, and development work. The cooperation with C4C is currently limited to vulture conservation and research. The cooperation with C4C is currently limited to vulture conservation and research.

Mouse Free Marion

The Mouse-Free-Marion Project is one of the largest projects run by BirdLife South Africa. It was registered as its own organisation in 2014. Until 2024, MFM aims to fight invasive mice on the 300 km2 subantarctic Marion island to conserve thousands of seabirds. The Caring For Conservation Fund actively supports the important work of the organisation.

Protect the Pangolins

Protect the Pangolins is the only pangolin protection, rehabilitation and release programme in Zambia. The programme is a unique collaboration between the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, the UNZA School of Veterinary Medicine and the Wildlife Crime Prevention Unit. The C4C Fund supports this important work to protect pangolins in Zambia.

Tanzania Conservation and Community Empowerment Initiative

The Tanzania Conservation and Community Empowerment Initiative (TACCEI) is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving nature and empowering communities. Through its work, TACCEI addresses human-wildlife conflicts, promotes sustainable livelihoods, and enhances community resilience to climate change. By integrating conservation with community-driven initiatives, TACCEI fosters a future where people and nature coexist in harmony.

Zambian Carnivore Programme

The Zambian Carnivore Programme is a Zambian non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of large carnivores and their native ecosystems. In cooperation with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) and other partners, ZCP follows a three-pronged approach based on research, policy implementation, and human and organisational development in the field of species conservation.

Currently, ZCP is working on projects in the Greater Liuwa Ecosystem, the Greater Kafue Ecosystem and the Eastern Zambian Luangwa Valley.
